A motorway was shut for nearly seven hours after a crash involving an animal transporter led to several cows running across the carriageways. | |
The crash, on the M40 between junctions 15 and 16 in Warwickshire, happened at about 0445 GMT. | |
Emergency crews said it involved a 4x4 vehicle pulling a trailer carrying six cows which collided with a lorry. | |
No-one was seriously hurt but two cows had to be put down. The motorway had to be shut while all the cows were found. | |
A Highways Agency spokesman said the motorway had to remain shut until one of the four cows which ran off was found. | |
