Version 0 of 1.

Soul singer Duffy has gone straight into the album chart at number one with her debut, while her single Mercy has topped the chart for a third week.

The Welsh star, who came second in the BBC's Sound of 2008 talent search, sold 180,000 copies of Rockferry.

She has the fastest-selling album of 2008 and outsold the rest of the Top 10 combined, according to data from the Official Charts Company (OCC).

Amy Winehouse's Back To Black was pushed back to number two.

Biggest seller

The only other new entry in the album chart top 10 was Dig Lazarus Dig by Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds.

Elsewhere in the singles chart, H Two O ft Platinum and Nickelback remained steady at numbers two and three.

Taio Cruz, Alphabeat, Flo Rida and Irish boy band Westlife clambered into the top 10 of the chart.

We Are Scientists scored the only new entry inside the top 20 with their latest single After Hours.

The OCC says Duffy's Rockferry is the latest in a run of hit debut albums from UK artists so far in 2008, following the success of Adele, Amy McDonald and Scouting For Girls.

Adele - who topped the Sound of 2008 chart - has the biggest-selling album of the year so far with 19.

Duffy's chart success in the last 12 months has only been surpassed by X Factor winner Leona Lewis, who achieved the best first week sales on record by a debut album with Spirit.
