Version 0 of 1.

The death of a man who drowned while on a Valentine's trip to Venice with his girlfriend was accidental, a coroner has ruled.

It is believed Richard Raynor, 23, from Welham near Retford in Nottinghamshire, fell from a bridge.

The inquest heard how on the night before he went missing, Mr Raynor and his girlfriend, Katie Robinson, 22, had enjoyed a meal in the city.

He disappeared after a dispute over getting a taxi at the end of the night.

Body under bridge

His wallet, mobile phone and hotel keys were handed into the reception of their hotel on 14 February and the police were alerted.

Mr Raynor's body was found under a bridge linking Venice lagoon to the mainland on 17 February.

The coroner described the incident as "a tragic accident" and said Italian police were not taking the matter any further.

The couple had been on a three-day break in the Mestre area of the city.
