Two men were fatally shot Friday and Saturday, and five people were stabbed Saturday in four incidents, D.C. police said.

Charles Newell, 24, of Waldorf, Md., was found fatally wounded about 4 p.m. Friday in the 3300 block of Blaine Street NE, and Reginald Perry, 28, was killed in the 1700 block of Eighth Street NW early Saturday, police said.

A Silver Spring man who was shot Thursday after answering his front door has stabilized at a hospital, and his family is questioning why Joshua Bart, 47, was attacked.

Montgomery County police said Bart was shot in a confrontation at his door in the the 9500 block of Clement Road. They called the shooting “not random” and said no community threat existed.

“He cares about other people,” said Bart’s sister, Jessica Bart. “He’s a great dad. We all love him”

The killing of the man found Monday in the Montgomery Village area was believed to be gang-related, and three suspects have been arrested, Montgomery County police said Saturday.

Police said Luis F. Avelar Morales, 17, of Girard Street in Gaithersburg, Daniel Adonai Ramos, 19, of Lost Knife Circle in Montgomery Village, and Juan Espinal Rapalo, 18, of Summit Avenue in Gaithersburg were charged with murder in the fatal shooting of Roberto Gutierrez Cruz, 22, of Montgomery Village.
