D.C. police search for man who robbed bank in Mount Vernon Place

D.C. police are searching for a man wearing a black trench coat and a black brim hat who on Tuesday afternoon robbed a bank in downtown Washington’s Mount Vernon Place, according to authorities.

The robbery occurred about 3:45 p.m. at a Capital One Bank branch in the 900 block of New York Avenue NW. Surveillance photos provided by police show a man at a teller station. Police did not say whether he had a gun, but he does not appear armed in the photographs.

Police described the man as black, 40 to 45 years old and standing about 5 feet 10 inches tall. He has a dark complexion, was clean shaven and of average build. He was wearing the coat and hat, along with a scarf, and was carrying a black leather briefcase. Witnesses last saw him walking west on New York Avenue.
