Arrested DJ Kershaw back in jail DJ told to 'go home with mother'
(about 5 hours later)
DJ Andy Kershaw has been returned to jail, three days after being released. DJ Andy Kershaw has been advised to leave the Isle of Man and go to live with his mother after he was arrested for harassing his former partner.
The 48-year-old, originally from Rochdale, served 44 days in prison in the Isle of Man for harassment against the mother of his two children. The 48-year-old appeared at the High Bailiff's Court in Douglas just three days after being released from prison for the same offence.
He was arrested near his home in Peel on the Isle of Man on Monday afternoon on suspicion of a further breach of a restraining order. He had served 44 days for harassing the mother of his two children.
Mr Kershaw, a former BBC Radio 1 DJ, is to appear at the High Bailiff's Court in Douglas on Tuesday. The High Bailiff gave him a suspended sentence and urged him to return to Rochdale with his mother to recover.
He has two children, a 10-year-old son and eight-year-old daughter, with his former partner Juliette Banner. 'Miserable and pathetic'
Mr Kershaw, of Shore Road, Peel, was released from Victoria Road prison on Friday but was arrested on Monday. His mother Eileen Kershaw, 73, told the court she would look after him at her Greater Manchester home.
The court heard how Kershaw had suffered "emotional meltdown" at the weekend.
Just before his release from prison, he had received a letter from his new partner, Catherine Turner, telling him their relationship was over.
High Bailiff Michael Moyle told Kershaw he "cut a miserable and pathetic figure".
He agreed to suspend a six-month jail term for two years for pleading guilty to a breach of the restraining order, if Kershaw agreed to leave the Isle of Man to sort out his personal problems.
Kershaw hugged his mother outside court and said: "I won't squander this chance."
