The bones of a 19-year-old Montgomery County man were found in Prince William County, more than two months after he went missing, police said on Friday.

Prince William County police said that Guillermo Hernandez Leyva was a victim of homicide, before his remains were left in a wooded area on the 14300 block of Westminster Lane in Woodbridge.

Police spokesman Jonathan Perok said that Hernandez Leyva was reported missing in Montgomery County on July 18. He had no known ties to Prince William County, but on Sept. 29, officers responding to an unrelated event came across his remains.

Investigators cannot tell how long he had been dead when he was found, Perok said. Detectives determined his identity and announced his death on Friday.

Perok said that police are investigating his death as a homicide, though the medical examiner’s office has not determined precisely what caused his death, and that they do not have any suspect yet.
