Man fatally shot, another stabbed in separate incidents in District

Version 0 of 1. A man who was shot Thursday night in Southeast Washington died later at an area hospital, according to D.C. police. It was one of two slayings in the District in a matter of hours. Police said the shooting occurred about 7:35 p.m. in the 3200 block of 15th Place SE., in Congress Heights. The victim was identified as Tavon Maurice Patterson, 23, of Southeast. Early Friday, police said a man was killed and another person was injured when they were stabbed in the 200 block of K Street NW. The attack occurred shortly after 1 a.m. The area is near apartment buildings and I-395. The stabbing victim who died was identified as Joel David Midgett, 24, of Northwest. No other details about the shooting or stabbings were released. |
