Afghans arrested as devices found Trio held over terror plot fears

Three men have been arrested after a number of devices were discovered at an apartment block in County Kerry on Friday evening. Three men from Afghanistan are being questioned over a suspected terrorist plot following a raid in County Kerry.
The items, believed to be components for explosives, were found in the popular tourist town of Tralee. Components for explosives, including remote controls, are understood to have been discovered during the raid at a Tralee hostel on Friday.
Police found the items in a building used as a hostel for asylum seekers and foreign nationals in the town. The building is used by asylum seekers and other foreign nationals in the town, which is popular with tourists.
A Garda spokesperson said the men being questioned were understood to be from Afghanistan. Local gardai, supported by the anti-terrorist officers, acted following an intelligence operation.

The three men are being questioned under section 30 of the Republic's Offences Against the State Act.
