Many of the papers are making up for lost time after weeks of sitting on a story they were bursting to tell.

"Harry the secret hero" is the headline in the Daily Express. "One of our boys" says the Sun, while the Daily Mirror goes for "My war - by Prince Harry".

The Times pictures him sitting with Gurkhas after firing a machine gun.

The headline reads: "This is about as normal as I'm ever going to get." The Daily Star offers the inspired headline "When Harry met Tali".

'Frantic arrangements'

According to the Daily Telegraph, the prince's posting to Afghanistan was so secret that even some senior generals were not informed.

It says he was put at the centre of the fight against the Taleban, working round the clock to track enemy movements and set co-ordinates for bomb-drops.

The Guardian claims army commanders were making frantic arrangements on Thursday night to bring Prince Harry home.

The Mirror also believes he will now have to cut short his tour of duty.

Rubbish analysis

Only the Independent and the Morning Star have no mention at all of Harry on their front pages.

The Independent instead claims an inquiry into primary education showed political interference has set back the quality of education for a generation.

The Express reports fury in parts of North Yorkshire, where councils are said to be taking rubbish from homes for analysis without telling them.

A spokeswoman at one council said it was part of research into recycling.

Hide from women

London's claim to be the world's cultural capital has been boosted by news it has more popular museums than any other capital, the Telegraph says.

A survey by The Art Newspaper found London has seven of the world's most-visited museums and art galleries while Paris and Madrid have three.

The Star considers the date - 29 February is one day women can propose.

Its editorial warns all self-respecting bachelors to lock the door, turn off the phone, close the curtains and hide.
