At least eight people have been killed after the small police plane they were travelling in crashed in the Chilean capital, Santiago. A police plane has crashed onto a playing field in the Chilean capital, Santiago, killing all six people on board and five on the ground.

Six of those killed were the passengers aboard the plane, while another two were killed on the ground. "Grandmothers and children were doing aerobics," one witness told local television. "Most of them managed to escape, but some were trapped."
