The Polish defence ministry said the bomb went off on Tuesday about 3kms (2 miles) from the Polish base in Sharana. It said that the wounded soldier's life was not in danger.

The ministry had informed the soldiers' families, it said.
Poland has about 1,200 soldiers in Afghanistan and plans to deploy 400 more this year. It plans to withdraw 1,000 soldiers from Iraq by September.
