Charlotte Potter, of the charity Help the Aged supported the call for a review of prescription charging.
She said: "Many older people suffer more than one chronic condition, which can lead them having to take multiple medications.
"As a result, it is critical that cost is never a barrier to older people receiving the right care and treatment."
Some 45% of medications prescribed in the UK are for people aged 65 and over, while 36% of older people aged 75 and over take four or more prescribed drugs.
