Father dies saving son from sea

The pair had gone for a swim at Hartland Point on Sunday and were due to return home to Finchley in London. The 44-year-old man saw his child was in trouble and managed to pull him to safety on rocks but then slipped into the sea. He was pulled from the water and airlifted to North Devon District Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Airlifted to hospital It is understood that the man was on holiday with his wife and two children. He was pulled conscious from the water by two members of the public, including an off-duty paramedic who tried to resuscitate him. He was airlifted to hospital by the RAF Chivenor rescue helicopter where his death was confirmed. The coroner has been informed and a post mortem examination is to be held to determine the cause of the death. |
