REM to play four UK stadium dates

Rock group REM have announced four stadium dates in the UK this summer to promote their new album, Accelerate.

The US band will play Old Trafford in Manchester on 24 August, Cardiff's Millennium Stadium the next day and Southampton's Rose Bowl on 27 August.

Their summer tour will finish at Twickenham Stadium, south-west London, on 30 August.

REM - Michael Stipe, Peter Buck and Mike Mills - will also play at London's Royal Albert Hall on 24 March.

They will play a full US tour in May and June before embarking on a European trip that will also see them visit locations including Amsterdam, Dublin and Scotland's T in the Park.

Tickets for the band's UK stadium gigs go on sale on Friday.
