Firefighters said the Abbey Produce unit at Funtham's Lane, Whittlesey, may contain gas cylinders and witnesses have reported hearing an explosion. Firefighters said the blaze at Abbey Produce in Funtham's Lane, Whittlesey, is not out but is now under control.
The fire has halted rail services between Ely and Peterborough operated by CrossCountry Trains, East Midlands Trains and One Railway. The wind is blowing smoke plumes towards Thorney, east of Peterborough, and residents are asked to keep windows and doors firmly shut.
Residents living nearby have been asked to keep doors and windows closed. Rail services are disrupted because the Peterborough to Ely line is shut due to fears over gas bottles in the building.
Witnesses said smoke could be seen miles from the site. Network Rail said once the 200m (650ft) exclusion zone is lifted their engineers will have to inspect the track in the vicinity of the fire before train services can resume.
Crews and equipment from Northamptonshire were called in to help Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue.
The fire was contained in a 100m (325ft) by 80m (260ft) building and crews were still directing water jets onto flames from turntable ladders on Monday night.
