Woman convicted of impersonating man to dupe friend into having sex Woman convicted of impersonating man to dupe friend into having sex
(34 minutes later)
A woman has been convicted of impersonating a man over two years to dupe her friend into having sex. A woman has been found guilty of pretending to be a man in order to trick one of her friends into having sex with her while wearing a blindfold.
Gayle Newland, 25, disguised her appearance and voice as she demanded the other woman put on a blindfold when meeting up. Gayle Newland, 25, had admitted using a male alter-ego called Kye Fortune to chat up girls online, saying she was not comfortable with being a lesbian and found it easier to approach women that way.
The pair had sex about 10 times until the complainant ripped off her mask and in disbelief saw Newland wearing a prosthetic penis. Newland denied sexual assault, claiming her accuser, also aged 25, always knew she was pretending to be a man as they engaged in roleplay while struggling with their sexuality, Chester crown court heard.

Newland claimed her accuser, also aged 25, always knew she was pretending to be a man as they engaged in role play while struggling with their sexuality, Chester crown court heard. On Tuesday, a jury of eight women and four men convicted the defendant, from Willaston, Cheshire, of three counts of sexual assault. She was cleared of two other counts of sexual assault.
She said no blindfold was used and she did not strap bandages to her chest or wear a woollen hat and swimsuit. The complainant, described by the prosecution as “very gullible and naive”, said she had been approached on Facebook by an Asian-looking man called Kye Fortune, who said he was undergoing treatment for a brain tumour discovered following a car accident.

He said he was body conscious after losing a lot of muscle tone and asked her to wear a blindfold when they met.
The jury of eight women and four men convicted the defendant, from Willaston, Cheshire, of three counts of sexual assault. By this point the woman considered Kye not only her boyfriend but her fiance, she told the jury; he had even sent her a ring in the post.
She was cleared of two other counts of sexual assault. Giving evidence last week, the complainant said: “Every time I met up with Kye Fortune, I either had the mask on already or he would wait outside the door and I would put it on. I was so desperate to be loved. It’s pathetic, so desperate for love, so desperate.”
More details soon... She said the penny did not drop even when she once saw Newland drive away from her flat after she had had sex with Kye and taken off her blindfold. The woman said: “If I could go back and scream at me, I would. It does look ridiculous on paper.”
