A woman was “teleported” across a festival site in a portable toilet – when it was moved by a forklift truck.

The woman, who has not been identified, was using the toilet before the opening of Newlyn fish festival in Cornwall, but it was picked up by a forklift truck and transported to the other side of the harbour.

Organisers of the festival, which took place on Monday, confirmed the woman was not injured in the incident.

The Newlyn harbourmaster, Rob Parsons, told BBC Radio Cornwall: “She got in the loo and then it was picked up and taken to the other side of the harbour with her in it.

“I think she was suffering from a bit of shock or she thought she had teleported across to the other side of the harbour.”

Mark Kempthorne, director of Andyloos, which provided the portable toilets, told the programme it was an easy mistake to make because forklift drivers went in through the back entrance to pick them up.

“It does happen quite a bit, to be honest – I’ve done it a few times,” he added.
